Defeating comfort is extremely difficult. Naturally our primal instinct tell us to not do things that bring us pain. Therefore it takes a lot of willpower to make yourself hurt. It takes drive and hunger to push yourself when you are sore and tired. It takes commitment when everyone else around you thinks you are crazy. These are the elements needed to free yourself from your own “comfort prison.”
President Eisenhower said, “One can attain a high degree of security in a prison cell if that’s all he wants out of life.” If you are stuck inside four walls of your own “comfort prison” then it is time to break out! This jail break is never easy because you will have to accept that you need to experience little personal deaths each day.
Picture this as the metamorphosis state that a caterpillar embraces to become a butterfly. When you do you will understand these words by Richard Bach.
“What a caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly.”
Challenge yourself to break out of your “comfort prison.”
Die a little more each day so that you can live more than ever before.
“And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” Abraham Lincoln
