REMEMBER WHO YOU WANTED TO BE
For the first time ever, the world as a collective has reached a point where not all; but many feel connected to each other. Putting social media algorithms aside, we have all experienced, are currently experiencing, or will experience the feeling of driving down the highway at 80 miles an hour towards our destination. Where many of us can find common ground is not on the highway, road trip, or destination, but in the feeling when the car has suddenly stalled. It has lost all power, is slowing down, and worst of all, the steering is almost completely locked up.
Since March, many of us have experienced this feeling. We were on pace to do and achieve so much, but then, our legs got kicked out from under us. As our pity parties slowly came to an end, we rose up from the ashes and remains of what was left. We have learned how to persevere and how to proceed even when our car has lost all power and ability to steer.
No matter where we are, this time of the year is often more critical than the beginning of the year when you made your resolutions and goals. It is the time of the year where you have to ask yourself an important question.
Do you remember who you wanted to be?
Like many of us, we had a decent idea of where we would like to be by this time of the year. Maybe you had planned on working on your health, finances, or more. Inventory and assessment are essential to any development, and you can give yourself a small handicap for the pandemic, but are you back on track?
If not, have no fear because there is still time! There are over two months left where you don’t have to give up. Now is the time to not lay down for a nap. It is like the fourth quarter of the game. Only it isn’t just any game. It is the BIG Championship Game! Treat now as if it is the do or die time. You are behind only a few points, and it is time to pull out all the stops IF you want it. Sure it would be easier to lay down and call it quits. You are tired, drained of excitement, and enthusiasm. Here’s a big announcement that I am not sure if you are aware of, but WE are all tired. At what point will we be tired of being tired?
“Setting and achieving goals is a critical human pursuit.” Jocko
There is no time like the present to reset your focus, get back on track, or even create new goals that you want to achieve. Many people enter the holidays coasting, which in turn sets up their new year for a lackluster start. Push hard now to enjoy a few days at each holiday, and you will start the new year stronger than ever. There is still time to make positive changes in your life. Start now, start fast, and start strong.
