For most of us, the last thing we want to do is get up dark and early to work out; but what we must realize is that it is just as challenging to get out of bed and train as it is to go after a long day of work and get our sweat on! Overall, we can all agree that once our day gets underway, everything and everyone is tugging at us for our attention. Once our day chews us up and spits us out, we are exhausted and often more tired than if we just set our mind to roll out of bed and get after it.
The struggle of getting up earlier in the morning is real, but the benefits far outweigh the challenge. Like the first lesson in Admiral McRaven’s speech that went viral, if we do something as simple as working out in the morning and getting our time in before the day comes knocking on our door, we feel accomplished and empowered to do more. If we stay consistent in this structure, we will build discipline and confidence that we can do more. Once we start down the path of waking up early, we will find our priorities shift. We will prepare for the next day and go to bed earlier. We will also reap the rewards like starting the furnace in our metabolism, which guarantees you will burn more calories over your entire day, even while sitting at work!
We’ve started a new 6AM Kickboxing MMA Class on Wednesdays and Fridays. Our goal for this class is to help those with more challenging schedules. We don’t crave discomfort, but we desire to change. One of our mentors once said, “If you want more then become more.” Wake up, make your bed, get your sweat on, and start your day better than ever! Let us commit to at least one day per week to get up and get after it in the morning to give more to ourselves. Time is precious, so we must understand we can’t make time. We either take time, or we give it away. We must give ourselves time before we give it to everyone else.
