Make Some Ripples

Years ago I heard a phrase that just resonated with me.  The speaker and mentor of many martial artists said that all we had to remember was ten, two letter words.  I was literally combing my brain to see how many two letter words I knew when he said,

“If it is to be… it is up to me.”  I found myself counting on my fingers because I didn’t think that was ten words; but of course, it was.

This saying has stuck with me for probably more than 10 years.  It speaks volumes about everything I have ever achieved.

Whatever positive change you want will happen if you do something about it.  The reverse is also true.  If you do nothing, often enough something you don’t want to happen… will.

This happens because, “If you are sitting still, the enemy is making a move on you.”  (Jocko)

There is no doubt that your canoe will move down the river of life.  As it does, there will be downed trees, rocks and rapids in your way.  You can either sit there and do nothing or you can choose to make a change.

Once again, “If it is to be, it is up to me.”

No one else can make change happen for you.  So if you want to make a change, throw your first rock in the water and make some ripples.  Then before the ripples stop, toss another, and another, and keep the momentum going.  When you do this, you will find yourself making waves.  As the water hits the edges of the land, change will happen in your life.
