October Graduation (Review)

Our Kickboxing MMA Program hosts two days of Graduation Classes for each Five Week Progression we complete. These are a great way to build up group support and energy as we review and wrap up the elements we have dedicated over a month to evolve.

Each Progression we design offers elements of foundation material, unique fitness and conditioning themes, as well as innovative topics. We keep every new Five Week Progression fresh by pulling concepts, techniques, and drills from multiple martial arts that we teach here at Martial Way Legacy. Dialing into these organized lesson plans allows us to keep our students motivated and excited to learn fresh content. This structure has kept many of our students training with us for over 18 years!

This last Five Week Progression and Graduation were a lot of fun! We spent time working on very short combinations to focus our efforts on defending ourselves and striking equally from both sides of our body. This concept played into an important goal and theme of facing multiple opponents from all directions.

As we have slowly opened our doors to the public through the pandemic, we have kept physical contact to a minimum to balance everyone’s comfortability. We have used both shadowing boxing and Punching Bags to continue our training and help our students achieve their goals.  Our most recent Progression marks the first time since March, where we have brought back the implementation of Thai Pads into our training regimen. Thai Pads are a phenomenal tool that puts both partners together to create dynamic back and forth training with each other. This tool is essential in the development of striking for all students and practitioners in the martial arts.

Our goal has been and still is to help all our students no matter where they are at with the current pandemic. We are still offering classes via our Facebook Group and Zoom, as well as in person. We are also continuing to write each Progression and lesson plan with application layers so that students here in the school or at home can sustain momentum and train towards their goals. Our instructors work tirelessly multiple times per week to keep this alive for each student.

Honestly, the pandemic has given all of us many blessings which, include reminding us to slow down, respect others, and enjoy more time with family. Some blessings came to us disguised in the form of challenges, such as how to use technology to teach remotely and how to develop new methods to share training material with limited equipment and or partners. As many of our students know, wherever you are, if you need help, we are here. Reach out to us, and we will do what we can to assist you with your goals. In the meantime, keep pushing for all that you want. The year is still young, and you have time to make your dreams into a reality.
