Double Stick Workshop (Review)

On Saturday, October 31st, we accomplished two goals. The first was to host a Double Stick Training Workshop both live and virtually online. We opened our physical doors to 12 people for face to face training; while also teaching attendees via Zoom. Our second goal for this event was to relaunch our Double Stick Online Training Course with a new and improved format to help our local, as well as distance learning students, train and specialize in this Filipino Martial Art Sub-System. As a bonus to attending the workshop live or virtually, all students would receive life-time access to the Online Specialty Training Course, as well as a rough cut film of the workshop material. This format worked out wonderfully for everyone to gain significant training progress at the time of the workshop because the students didn’t have to worry about taking notes and missing valuable training time. They could keep swinging away with the confidence of reviewing the workshop footage, as well as the online content at a later and more convenient time.  

If you have never trained with Double Stick, then you don’t know what it feels like to wield two lightsabers and be Ahsoka Tano from Star Wars. One thing for sure though you don’t have to be a Jedi Knight to learn Double Stick.  One of the most beautiful things about Double Stick is that as long as you have two moving arms, you can drill, train, and fall in love with it over and over again.  

Our workshop attendees spanned from literally first-time students to black belts, as well as seasoned competitors. Whether they were here in person or virtually on Zoom, everyone learned something and came together in the flow of Sinawali or the weaving pattern and rhythm of the sticks.  

We are looking forward to hosting more training events like this in the future as we open up the flood gates to more of our online Specialty Training Curriculums with Core Concept Coaching. This weekend marks a special event and the almost third anniversary of our online Wooden Dummy Certification Program.
