The Evolution of Specialty Training Programs

Over the last 23 years, our school has gone through four evolutions to help our students achieve their goals. The experiences we gained through these were instrumental in designing the three types of programs we offer online through Core Concept Coaching. They include free Challenges, Specialty Training, and Specialty Certification Programs.

Our Specialty Training Programs have grown considerably in the last few years in unique topics and memberships.  The concept behind these types of training programs comes from two main focal points.  The first was to fix a deficiency or fill in a gap to help the students' knowledge, abilities, and skills improve.  The second was to give students something uniquely different and fun to learn.  Many of our Specialty Training Programs include topics such as Knife Defense, Self-Defense, Double Stick, and fitness structures like the One More Mindset and the Five Pillars Workout.

Over the last few years, we have enjoyed bringing these programs to the foreground for everyone, both in-person and online. Although as time has passed, the necessity for a more organized learning interface has become a reality.  To update and continue to do more for our students, we have created concentrated Workshops that have allowed us to accomplish so much more.

Through these events, we have shared essential details on each curriculum in-person and virtually on Zoom.  We have also made adjustments and reformatted or added more curriculum to each Specialty Training Program. Workshop attendees got first-hand instruction on these updates, life-time access to the new online Specialty Training Program, and as a bonus, the “rough cut” video. This combination of the online material and the “rough cut” allows everyone to review the footage later when they want to train the material more or update their notes. This additional perk has enabled all participants more direct training time during each Workshop!

All in all, a three-hour Workshop is a great way to introduce certain concepts, topics, and drills; but having more time spread out would allow saturated training and a concept we call Overlapping. This progressive teaching method builds a better knowledge base while helping students gain confidence every time they step away from the material. By utilizing regular training times across a specific duration, we will naturally become more focused and enhance memory recall. Therefore, if we connect our progressive classroom structure with the Workshop format, we can construct the perfect configuration for learning any Specialty Training Program.

Anytime we have an idea, we ask ourselves three important questions. Will it help our students? Will it help our instructors? Will it help our community? If all three of these align, then we know what we have to do. We have already carved out time on our 2021 calendar year to host four of these unique Specialty Training Programs! Stay tuned here and on our Facebook Page for program dates and topics, which we will release in the next few days.
