This past Saturday, June 27th, we gathered some of our student body, family members, friends, and even people in the community to do a grounds clean up around our location. Our primary goal was to come together as a community and clean up the La Hacienda parking lot, GAMA front corner lot, and even the church lot next door to us.
We spent two solid hours that made a difference. It was extremely noticeable while walking from the church across our parking lot, as well as looking out from our school’s 2nd floor at all three lots. The toughest area that had more debris than you can imagine was the GAMA corner lot at 183. It picks up everything from the road, which includes little pieces of foam, wrappers, and more. Our aim next time will be to bring some rakes to hopefully break up the little stuff that gets stuck in dead grass and dirt. We are currently looking at our calendar and thinking we should organize another event for this lot within the next few months and attack it with our martial arts tenacity.
On that note, it is always interesting to see what you will find during a cleanup. Sonja found a $5 bill, and Mailyn FOUND A $100 BILL!!! It pays to give back to your community so be sure to join in the fun with us on July 25th as we host a Bull Creek Clean Up. Everyone is welcome to join in and we hope to see you there.
