IMMA BEAST

Over the years, there is one word used in sports and other physical activities to describe elite performers. That word is BEAST!  By definition, this word describes a large, hairy, and dangerous animal, but if that were the case, the vast majority of us could not, or would not qualify as a beast. So how does one become a beast?

First, we can study the beasts that have come before us, and take notice that they have all performed difficult tasks with extreme determination. They have faced a multitude of odds that were stacked against them and accomplished the unthinkable.  As the old saying goes, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.”  In the case of beasts, they put their foot down in the mud, clinch their jaw, and go into BEASTMODE!

Now if there is a mode, there is a way or method for us to all become beasts. All we have to do is follow the steps.

The song “Beast” by Rob Bailey The Hustle Standard (RBHS) illustrates simple and powerful measures that can help us all enter beast mode and work towards becoming a beast!

“When the sun rises,

I wake up and chase my dreams.

I won't regret when the sun sets,

Cuz I live my life like I'm a Beast.”

This setting teaches us that if we wake up early and give the day all of our efforts, we will never be disappointed by the time we lay our head on our pillow.

RBHS wastes no time by bringing out their fierce chorus like a personal affirmation,

"I'm a motherfuckin' beast!!!”

"I'm a motherfuckin' beast!!!”

"I'm a motherfuckin' beast!!!”

"I'm a motherfuckin' beast!!!”

"I'm a motherfuckin' beast!!!”

They reiterate the importance of that original setting by repeating,

“When the sun rises,

I wake up and chase my dreams.

I won't regret when the sun sets,

Cause I live my life like I'm a Beast.”

RBHS begins to build momentum for war through a pre chorus that reminds us of the necessities we will require while in the mid pursuit of our goals.

I control my breath, keep my body ready.

Focus on the finish, and keep my head steady.

Breath in, (Breath) Breath out (Breath).

Breath in, (Breath) Watch out.”

Then they light us on fire again with their chorus and affirmation,

“I’m a motherfuckin' Beast!

I'm a motherfuckin' Beast!

I'm a motherfuckin' Beast!

I'm a motherfuckin' Beast!

I'm a motherfuckin' Beast!

Imma Imma Imma Beast.”

RBHS powers on as they overlap a secondary chorus that predicts our dance with fear, and what we should declare to ourselves when we go nose to nose with it.

“Do you know what fear does?

Fear eats you alive

I have no fear in me.

It has no hold on me”

They take this to a whole new level with a chorus background telling off anything that gets in the way of us conquering our goals.

“You don't want problems

You don't want problems with me

You don't want problems

You don't want problems with me”

The second verse takes us a step further by drawing a more detailed image of a beast’s actions.

“Picture me climbin'

Tooth and nail, til I'm at the top.

Jump without a net (do it),

never break a sweat,

Cause I live my life like it's all I got.”

Without wasting any time, they build into another pre chorus while continuing to help us understand what it means to be a beast.

“I’ll never flinch,

I'll never close my eyes.

Have you ever seen a Beast,

sh-show fear before he dies.

All day, all night,

Building, my life.”

And then,

“Imma Imma motherfuckin' Beast!

Imma Imma fuckin' Beast.

Imma motherfuckin' Beast.

Fuckin I'm the fuckin' Beast.

Imma motherfuckin' Beast.

(you don't want problems)

Imma motherfuckin' Beast.

(you don't want problems with me)

Imma motherfuckin' Beast.

(you don't want problems)

Imma motherfuckin' Beast.

(you don't want problems with me)”

They take a short break, to sum up, what we should all chant and use as fuel to keep us going through the fog of fatigue.

“I’m the definition of unstoppable

I’m the definition of unstoppable

I’m the definition of unstoppable

Im unstoppa stoppa stoppa stoppa stoppa..”

Then we head back to affirmation city with,

“Imma motherfuckin' Beast.

Imma motherfuckin' Beast.

Imma, Imma a Beast, Beast, Beast

Imma motherfuckin' Beast.

Imma Beast fuckin Beast.

(You don't want problems)

B,b,b,b,beast

(You don't want problems with me..) B,b,b,b,beast

(You don't want problems )

B,b,b,b,beast

(You don't want problems with me..) B,b,b,b,beast

(You don't want problems)

B,b,b,b,beast

(You don't want problems with me..) B,b,b,b,beast

(You don't want problems)

B,b,b,b,beast

(You don't want problems with me..) B,b,b,b,beast”

RBHS wraps up this simple journey with a reminder of what we all must do until we reach our goals.

“Focus on the finish

Focus on the finish

Focus on the finish

Focus on the finish

All, all day

Focus on the finish (all, all day)

Focus on the finish (all, all day)

Focus on the finish, finish, like its all I got

Like it's all I got

Like it's all I got

Like it's all I got

Like it's all I got”

Every time I hear this song, I get motivated. RBHS creates an image of what a beast should do day in and day out. They show us what will happen along this journey and what we can do to keep pressing forward; while battling fear, negativity, and even setbacks. These lyrics are an encouragement for anyone wanting to start their journey, pick up their pace, or even finish what they started.

There is no guarantee that by plugging into these steps and methods we will become a beast.  After all, the term beast is a compliment that others bestow onto others due to their efforts and accomplishments.  In this case, “Focus on the finish” translates to focus on the journey.

We don’t have to be called a beast, to live like one.  All we have to do is “clock in” each time by applying our best efforts in everything we do.  We will settle for nothing less by developing a hunger that only a beast could understand.  It will make us crave more FOR ourselves by demanding more FROM ourselves.  If we flip the switch and ignite our beast mode every day in all that we do, we will achieve our goals as well as be ready for whatever life can throw at us.
